Extracurricular Activities

It's really far, far too early in the evolution of this project to expect meaningful extracurricular activities for the students, especially considering that we do not even have any students as of now ($Date: 2002/07/03 14:34:46 $). Obviously, then, it's eminently reasonable to question why we even have a page devoted to future extracurricular activities. The role of this page is to serve as a reminder of the centrality and ultimate importance to the university experience of social engagements, non-academic activities, and non-traditional learning environments (such as late-night bull sessions, philosophizing over coffee, etc.).

Without a physical campus, it is difficult to near impossible to supplement our curriculum with these activities the way a traditional university might. Nonetheless, it is our hope that over time, increased density of students and faculty in given locations might enable physical interactions. Regardless, though, we'd like to promote social interactions in any form, even if they be strictly over the internet. As a first approximation to this, we would encourage students to examine the Social mailing list for students. Additionally, students may want to participate in the Student Affairs working group.
